Located in the marshes off the eastbound side of the Route 72 Causeway in New Jersey, The Shack has served as Long Beach Island's unofficial welcoming symbol since the 1920's. As years go by, the iconic wooden structure stands on its last legs in desperate need of restoration or it will inevitably collapse into the wetlands.
UPDATE: It is sad to say that The Shack is no longer standing after Hurricane Sandy. The Shack has survived many hurricanes and floods but this was the one that finally swept it out to sea. I'd like to say thank you to everyone who has been sending such kind e-mails about the film and I'm glad I was able to document the story before it collapsed.
